SBA 7(a) loan payment calculator
An SBA 7(a) loan payment depends on the amount, rate, and term. Your lender negotiates the rate, and SBA caps it. In October 2026, published fixed-rate maximums run from 12% over $250,000 to 15% at $25,000 or less, using a 7.00% prime. Terms run up to 10 years for most uses and 25 for real estate.
Estimate as of Oct 2026. Actual rates and fees are set by the lender, and SBA rules change.

How we calculate this
The monthly payment uses standard amortization: payment = principal × monthly rate ÷ (1 − (1 + monthly rate) ^ −months). A 0% rate spreads the principal evenly. A $0 amount is a $0 payment. Dollars round to the nearest $1. The 504 estimate amortizes the bank portion and the CDC portion separately.

Questions
What is the SBA 7(a) maximum interest rate this month?
SBA publishes fixed-rate maximums monthly. The October 2026 table, dated October 1, 2026, lists 15% for loans of $25,000 or less, 14% up to $50,000, 13% up to $250,000, and 12% above $250,000. That table uses a 7.00% prime. Variable-rate maximums are a base rate plus 6.5, 6, 4.5, or 3 percentage points, depending on the loan amount. These are caps, not typical rates.
How much is the SBA guaranty fee?
SBA sets the upfront guaranty fee each fiscal year in an Information Notice and allows the lender to pass it to the borrower. It is a percent of the guaranteed portion. The FY2027 notice was not on sba.gov when this page was checked on October 27, 2026, so the percent starts blank. Enter the percent from your lender or the current notice. The lender's annual service fee cannot be charged to you.
How much down payment does a 7(a) loan need?
Ask your lender. Requirements vary by the deal. This calculator does not fill in a required percent. Whatever you enter is subtracted from the loan amount before the payment is estimated.
What is the SBA Express loan limit?
SBA Express stops at $500,000. The guaranty on an Express loan is 50%. A larger request uses the standard 7(a) program, which goes up to $5,000,000.
Can I pay off an SBA loan early?
For a 7(a) loan with a term of 15 years or longer, a prepayment fee can apply when 25% or more of the outstanding balance is paid off in the first three years after the first disbursement. The fee is 5% in year one, 3% in year two, and 1% in year three.
Is the calculator result a loan offer?
No. Every figure is an estimate. Your lender sets the rate, fees, and down payment. FundPlenty does not make loans.
